Chair Makeover

One of our customers, the woman behind the lovely blog Dixie Delights, just posted about her recent chair makeover. You have to check out it, the transformation is fantastic.

You can see the full story here. If you like what you see, remember that we can monogram fabric, so you too can have a gorgeous monogrammed wing chair. I'd recommend browsing your local Craigslist and find an old wing chair, you know, those ones with the terrible old faded floral patterns but great bones, and spend a little money to have it professional upholstered. It'll be a little bit of an investment but worth it, trust me.

Thanks go out to Dixie Delights for the shout out, we love your blog.

My new fabric obsession...

Betwixt by Celery Kemble
We just ordered some of the Stone color for a client's dining room seats and some of the Biscuit color to use on a bench in the shop.  It's going to look amazing. I can't wait!

Biscuit & Stone

Celery Kemble herself designed this room and upholstered the walls in Charcoal Betwixt fabric.
So good.

Quick tip.

I saw this photo and had to share...

Painting the edge of a door is the easiest way to add a pop of color in your space in under 10 minutes. Be bold and do something bright. Like really, really bright. Everyone is talking about neon these days, this is one way to jump on that bandwagon.

Off to go figure out which door in my apartment I'm going to do this to...

Friday Finds...

Being the dedicated designer that I am (ha!), I like to keep up with my design magazines every month. These finds are from some staples that circulate around this place - Southern Living, House Beautiful, and Country Living.

We'll be carrying a few pieces from this beautiful lighting company, Ro Sham Beaux, that makes their fixtures just down the road from us in Charleston. Pretty, eh? I promise there will be a blog post with more deets about them once they arrive, but we were so excited to see one of their fixtures in the February 2012 issue of Southern Living!

Claire scored these awesome antique trunks a few weeks ago and we're so impressed with the quality of them, considering their true antiques. They're all still for sale too! From top to bottom they are $210, $225, and $188. You know how you see something once and then you keep seeing it everywhere? That was the case with these trunks.

Classic use of antique trunks as a side table in the March issue of House Beautiful.

Steven Gambrel tucked some trunks under an end table in the space featured in the February issue of Southern Living.

A little different but just as stylish - trunks for storage on top of existing storage. Talk about making the most of your storage space, seen in the latest issue of Country Living.

Now on an unrelated note, you know monograms are our thing, so I was pleseantly surprised to see this quote from Charlotte Moss in the March 2012 House Beautiful

"Monogramming is an old-fashioned art, but one that ought to be kept alive forever".

No further elaboration necessary.

Have a great weekend!

More Monograms...

A few weeks ago, we got those navy Libeco Linen pillows in and we were so excited to stock a pillow in our signature color. We've been working on our logo redesign with the very talented Christine Kingerski over the past few weeks, so it made perfect sense to monogram one of the navy pillows with our new logo. Notice how our new logo is a monogram (see the intertwined F and E behind the N)? We're so clever...and by we I mean Christine.

Drum roll please...

 Looks pretty great, no?

Anyhow, thought I'd share some other monograms that we've done lately.

SFERRA festival napkin with a tone on tone 'C'.

SFERRA festival cocktail napkin with a custom monogram.

Libeco Linen pillow in oyster with a custom RM monogram.
SFERRA festival cocktail napkin with a custom intertwined S monogram.

SFERRA festival napkin with a tone on tone 'S'.

The white linen pillow with a new pagoda design. Email us to order this one, only $98.

Did you know we can monogram fabric? If you wanted to turn a certain fabric into a pillow or a slipcover, we'd be happy to monogram the fabric before it's sewn into the final product. Even though we have a 'we don't monogram items that we don't sell' policy, fabric is the only exception! Again, email us for more info.

Back to work...

Linnea's Lights in Men's Health magazine...

Yes. Men's Health. You read that correctly. It has been brought to my attention that one of our favorite candles has made another list of Best Valentine's Day Gifts.

They've got some smart editors working at that magazine. I would be thrilled with one of these as a gift on February 14th (hint, hint!). Linneas Lights are great for so many reasons - 2 wicks, soy based, recycled packaging, cute matchbox included, and the most wonderful scents. We've got a bunch of these that we burn on rotation and they make the shop smell aaaamazing. If only I had a dollar every time someone walked in and said, "it smells so good in here!". Seriously, I'm not exaggerating like I usually do.

Cashmere is definitely our best seller, can't keep them on the shelves! Actually, some of our best customers are salon owners, so you know a candle is good when they keep coming back for more, and then their clients come to buy it after they smelled it while getting their hair done.

I never thought I'd ever read about candles in Men's Health but it was a very nice surprise. Most of all, I hope the men that read about these candles place their orders here. Don't forget to enter in the code 'LOVE' for 15% off at checkout.

6 days to go!

Yes, you read that right, men. You have 6 full days left to buy that special lady in your life a Valentine's Day gift! May I suggest a few items?

Okay the first two are obvious because they are classic No. Four Eleven items. Get something personal!

Libeco Linen Pillow. Be bold and get a bright raspberry colored monogram. Fitting for the holiday AND looks great.

What girl doesn't love things that are gold, especially when it's jewelry?! Stop by the shop because all of our jewelry on the floor is 50% off. We have to make room for all the beautiful pieces Claire ordered at market in January - take a look at all the new inventory here. That gorgie piece the bangles are sitting in is the Golden Clam Bowl, which would be an excellent addition to any coffee table or bookshelf for a little glitz. Also - don't forget, nothing says 'I love you' like some one-of-a-kind art, especially when it's done by the famous, Katherine Sandoz. That's a gift she'll keep for life, I promise.

I'll admit I'm slightly terrified of color sometimes (designers out there will agree with me!) but I do love me some brightly colored leather clutches. The fuschia clutch is probably my favorite. Again, also the most color appropriate one for this holiday. You guys can't go wrong with these totally affordable (read: under $20!) clutches.

It doesn't get any cuter than this Two Elephants pillow by John Robshaw. What makes the pillow all kinds of wonderful is that it's actually hand painted on the linen/cotton blend. You have to see it in person to fully appreciate it.

Now because I want to help you out, we'll discount any online order 15% until midnight on the 14th! Just enter in the code 'LOVE' at checkout. Yeah, I went there. I have no shame in being super cheesy this time of year.

Oh and I forgot to mention, another way we made things super easy is by categorizing our gifts on our website, so you'll see all gifts appropriate for her here.

Before & After

This wing chair I inherited from my grandmother had good lines, but was definitely not Granny Chic. A little linen made it look so much better! What do you think??

Celadon & Linen

I want this whole set up. It's killing me to see it everyday and not take it home. So somebody better snatch it up fast!

The linens, antique lamps, garden stools and framed bird print on linen are all available at the shop!

Wise Words.

Question: what does No. Four Eleven have in common with this woman?

Answer: Monograms!

I saw this quote from Reese Witherspoon on Pinterest....

...and we couldn't agree more.
