Herb Gardens...

This weekend our herb garden was in full force. With my black thumb, I'm truly amazed when anything will grow in our yard. But we planted a raised bed in the backyard and filled it with herbs. The dill, sage, lemon verbena, basil, oregano, parsley, rosemary and thyme are doing great. The poor lavender never had a chance. But I think that's pretty good odds! All weekend we made meals with our herbs and they tasted so much better...

Our friend, Farmer D, helped us set our our container garden. He's based in Atlanta and is so knowledgeable about all plants and organic gardening. He even sells this amazing compost at Whole Foods. Check him out...

On a grander scale, check out the New York Botanical Garden Event for some inspiration on planting all kinds of vegetables and herb gardens.

The New York Botanical Garden's Edible Garden Event runs until September 13th, 2009. The New York Botanical Garden's campus-wide summer program celebrates edible plants. They asked Martha Stewart to bring her distinctive design aesthetic to the historic Luce Herb Garden, redesigning it to display a rich selection of herbs. If you can't visit, check out these amazing garden design. http://www.marthastewart.com/garden-plan
