Spotted

I spotted a few of the pieces of furniture that arrived at the shop this week on Pinterest. It's fun to see them in such beautiful rooms!

This antique Chinese blue & white jar would look fabulous in a room like this.  It's really big - 32"h.

The Abacus Chair and Estate Mirror seen in this room featured in Elle Decor.

The M. Dickson Table by Tritter Feefer seen in a room by Nate Berkus in the online magazine Trad Home.

A similar table to the Bali Console in a room I saw on Pinterest.

To paint or not to paint?

I love flipping through the latest shelter magazine and seeing something we have in the shop in a spread. Must mean we're doing something right around here. I saw this in the May 2012 issue of Elle Decor:

Took a few seconds until I realized that I sit eight feet away from that chair everyday.

It's got great shape and it's surprisingly really comfortable. Part of me wants to spray paint it a shiny bright color. Let's be honest, I see any piece of furniture and my immediate thought is to paint it. Think that would ruin it? What would you do - leave it au natural or spray it to change things up? I immediately thought of these examples of fun painted chairs...

Thoughts? Don't worry, I'm not actually going to paint this chair. Claire would probably murder me!

Chair Makeover

One of our customers, the woman behind the lovely blog Dixie Delights, just posted about her recent chair makeover. You have to check out it, the transformation is fantastic.

You can see the full story here. If you like what you see, remember that we can monogram fabric, so you too can have a gorgeous monogrammed wing chair. I'd recommend browsing your local Craigslist and find an old wing chair, you know, those ones with the terrible old faded floral patterns but great bones, and spend a little money to have it professional upholstered. It'll be a little bit of an investment but worth it, trust me.

Thanks go out to Dixie Delights for the shout out, we love your blog.

More from Atlanta...

More, more, more from Atlanta! I found a beautiful weathered bench and dresser with a cream marble top from Gabby Home. Stunning. The cool mirrors were at Bliss Studio. The chippy knot mirror is hands down one of my favorite finds! It would look good over a console in an entryway or over a bar or sideboard in a dining room. Everything is coming soon and you can order them here.

Hurricane Claire.

Last week I walked into work a little late after an appointment and it looked like a hurricane had just torn through the place. To my surprise, Claire clearly had a burst of energy that morning and took it upon herself to rearrange the place. A couple of tourists walked by while we were mid-madness and asked if we were setting up shop for the first time. A few hours and a serious muscle workout later, we ended up with this:

SFERRA napkins, upholstered chairs, candles, adorable clutches from ShopBlithe and the stunning oyster shell mirror.

A little jewelry and a little Katherine Sandoz.

More Katherine Sandoz, cute stools, a classic sofa, and my favorite pillow in the shop.

We moved what I have now declared to be the heaviest display unit EVER. Seriously, it took Claire and I a good 10 minutes to move it 30 feet. It will now permanently live at the top of the stairs if I have any say in the matter. It still houses all of our table linens, but we added some accessories, a pretty lamp, and a beautiful piece by the very talented T.S. Kist.

Stop by and see the place for yourself! I'm sure if you pay Claire she'll come and do the same thing to your house. It's worth it, it feels like a whole new shop in here.

friday at the shop...a couple of days late

It was crazy last week with all the deliveries of new things! Furniture, jewelry and loads of fun accessories for the house. So, needless to say, last Friday we were busy unpacking and making new displays all day...no time to post. Here are some of the gorgeous things we got in.

The Egypt Chest, with it's amazing carved details, landed in the front window display because it is so killer. Tomorrow I'll show you how everything looks in the shop!
